London based Joanna Abeyie is a journalist, entrepreneur and TV presenter. She is the founder and director of Shine Media, a social enterprise that aims to increase diversity within the journalism industry, offers training and recruitment for the creative industries and specialises in finding diverse talent for employers from a pool of talent they do not currently recruit from.
“Shine Media’s main objective is to increase the representation of ethnic minorities within the media industry. We hope to make young people from ethnically diverse backgrounds more attractive to potential employers and thus increase the number of ethnic minorities working within the journalism industry. The Start up loan Rockstar Youth funds will be used to fund our brand new interactive website, create promotional material and promotional video for business/client pitches. As a business we are already trading and the money we’ve been loaned will help us to grow our business and take it to the next level.”
