Abby Trow recently started her own business “DecoMag“, which is an independent online magazine for eco chic homes and interiors. Being a “one man band” in her business, Abby immediately identified the limitations & challenges she would face going into this new venture alone.
In addition, Abby realised the invaluable knowledge & experience a business mentor can bring to the table. Especially in showing her how to monetise her business, since she didn’t have a clear strategy how to achieve that. Abby knew she needed guidance on implementing creative advertising techniques & other marketing avenues to generate the desired revenue for Deco online magazine.
That’s when she approached Rockstar Mentoring Live early Oct 2013…
A mentoring manager quickly helped Abby identify the most suitable mentor who can help her over the coming months, and so her relationship with mentor Geoff Kennedy began. Prior to her mentoring engagement, Abby had never had a sale in DecoMag, however within hours of her FIRST meeting with Geoff Kennedy she achieved her first sale!
Abby learnt the value of promoting “Special Offers” in a very unique way to her niche market vs bog standard banner ads. As a result, she engaged her target audience much better and by implementing new strategies that work, Abby’s now well on her way to securing more sales in the coming months.
Abby added that Geoff has played – and continues to play – an instrumental part in the following areas of DecoMag:
- Teaching her how to monetise her products easily and effectively helped her tremendously in starting to think more like a professional businesswoman (vs the idea of being a one-man-band)
- Having someone to bounce ideas off every month and ensure she makes the right decisions,
- Giving her the confidence that her business is viable (and therefore, Abby’s now even more excited to work towards her Bigger Vision!)
- Helped her overcome her “fears of money”; e.g Abby’s not scared to state her product’s worth anymore; she doesn’t take it personally anymore if someone doesn’t buy from her; and Abby feels like she’s become a lot more confident about money overall, and therefore enjoying business even more.
